Turkish Christian attack:
Christian killings provide stark reminder of need to address problem of extreme Turkish nationalism
Commenting on yesterday's attack on a Christian publishing house in Malatya, Turkey, which left three people dead, Green MEPs Joost Lagendijk , chair of the European Parliament Turkey delegation, and Cem Özdemir said:
"We strongly condemn the killings of Christians in the publishing house in Malatya, Turkey, and call for a thorough investigation to determine the facts behind this heinous crime. This latest attack provides yet another disturbing reminder of the dark nature of nationalistic agitation in Turkey and the paranoid way in which Turkish nationalists regard the Christian minority. Turkey must clearly denounce this crime and the extremists responsible, who are intent on damaging the international perception of Turkey."
